Anchored in the heritage of the Yellow River civilization, this one-week program blends fashion design, art & visual communication, and cross-cultural exchange. Through interdisciplinary collaboration and immersive experiences, you will decode Henan’s cultural DNA, experience Shaolin Kung Fu up close, and connect with the living roots of Chinese civilization.
I. Program Dates
25–31 May 2026
II. Core Workshop Modules

1. Fashion Design Workshop
Core format: Co-taught by Chinese and international faculty, with mixed Sino-foreign student teams. You will move from concept to runway, turning a themed project into finished looks.
Key content: Work collaboratively across the full fashion pipeline—from concept sketching, fabric selection, pattern cutting, and garment construction to planning a mini runway show. The workshop is paired with industry field trips (visits to fashion studios and creative industry parks). The experience culminates in a fashion show and design concept presentation.
2. Art & Design Workshop
Core format: Jointly designed and taught by Chinese and international staff, with mixed teams of students working on themed design projects that emphasize cross-cultural creative exchange.
Key content: Projects may include visual communication design, environmental art & space design, and cultural creative product design. You will respond to real-world design briefs and incorporate elements of Henan’s local culture (such as ancient capital cityscapes and traditional patterns). Studio-based making is combined with industry talks and visits, and the module concludes with a group exhibition and design presentation.
3. Cross-Cultural Exchange & Chinese Language Practice
Core format: Guided by both Chinese and international teachers, students from different countries are grouped together to explore topics and share outcomes, creating deep, two-way cultural interaction.
Key content: Practical Chinese language sessions to support everyday communication and creative collaboration; small-group discussions and mini-research projects on themes such as cultural difference and integration, global design trends, and the contemporary communication of intangible cultural heritage. Activities include fieldwork, group presentations, intercultural communication skills training, cultural sharing sessions, and Chinese language role-play.
4. Henan Intangible Cultural Heritage: Craft & Culture Lab
Core format: Hands-on workshops with local inheritors and experts of Henan’s representative intangible cultural heritage (ICH), with mixed groups of Chinese and international students.
Key content: Learn about and experience iconic Henan ICH practices such as Bian embroidery, Zhuxian Town woodblock New Year prints, opera costume-making, and Jun porcelain glaze design. You will move from experiencing craft techniques to creatively transforming them in your own work. The module includes visits to ICH studios and cultural heritage sites, team-based projects that reimagine ICH elements, and a showcase and creative competition.
